DEVASTATED MUM: MAKE IT SAFER FOR KIDS TO GET OFF BUS

THE mother of an 11-year-old girl killed earlier this month after being hit by a car as she got off a school bus is calling for a new law to increase safety.

Caitlin Rose lost her life as she made her way home from school on Hillhead Road in Castledawson, Co Derry.

Mum Stella McMullan felt she had to launch a campaign for new safety measures - including bus shelters, better bus codes where cars must stop by law to let children cross and speed awareness around stopped buses - before another child is killed.

Stella said: "Caitlin Rose was the life and soul of the party. She loved to travel and had fun.
