'Assassination of Michael D' movie 'kind of farewell to our purest figure'

A WRITER of a film called The Assassination of Michael D Higgins has admitted he knew its title would be eye-catching.

The provocatively named movie, which is a dark comedy about a man who believes he is the President of Ireland, is to premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh.

Writer John Doran, from Kilkenny, said: "The title caught people's attention. But once I had their attention, I had to earn it."
