Connolly's hit campaign a Celtic design of the times

THE young designer behind Catherine Connolly's Celtic-inspired visual campaign said she was shocked by the reaction to her artwork.

At just 26 years old Anna Cassidy saw her creations hanging on lampposts in every corner of the country.

The Meath woman works full-time in an architectural firm, but she put her heart and soul into designing the president-elect's unique posters and merchandise.

Connolly's team was comprised of volunteers, and the designer said it was a special experience to be part of a campaign that yielded a resounding result, with 63% of first preference votes.

In creating the identity of Connolly's campaign, Anna aimed to bridge contemporary design and Irish heritage - pulling on the president-elect’s Galway roots and passion for Gaeilge.
