The US president was in a jovial mood for this one, his first with a world leader since his showdown with Zelensky last month.

Maybe he was infused with St Patrick's Day spirit, having just declared March National Irish-American Heritage month, a thank you for his strong Irish-American vote.

"The Irish love Trump - we won the Irish with a tremendous vote. We won in the 80s," he boasted.

Back home, all eyes were on Micheal Martin, who looked lean and pristine in a dark suit, with a green tie and plenty of shamrock.
