WILLIAM BUICK got acquainted with Field Of Gold in Newmarket yesterday before being confirmed as the Sussex Stakes hotpot’s jockey at Glorious Goodwood next Wednesday.

The mount aboard the John and Thady Gosden-saddled grey is up for grabs after Colin Keane, Juddmonte's No 1rider who steered the colt to victories in the Irish 2,000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes, picked up a whip suspension.

Gosden snr dropped a broad hint that Buick would “probably” step in to partner Field Of Gold, who yesterday hardened to 2-5 at the head of William Hill's betting for the Visit Qatar-sponsored Group 1 test.

And Buick teamed up with Kingman's son for a seven-and-a-half-furlong workout on the Newmarket gallops yesterday morning.
