Shauna says no-one would have expected to see Meath make the All-Ireland decider

- By KARL O'KANE

MEATH double All-Ireland-winning captain Shauna Ennis reckons that at the start of the season no-one would have picked the Royals to be in the Brendan Martin Cup decider.

It might well have been the same story as recently as early May, after the Leinster final defeat by Dublin at Croke Park.

But Meath have rallied, defeating Tipperary and All-Ireland champions Kerry to set up a rematch with Dublin in Sunday's All-Ireland final.

"We always seem to be talking about this underdog tag, but at the start of the year I definitely don't think anyone would have picked us out to be in the All-Ireland final," said Ennis.

"Obviously, we've had a good run and we're delighted to be there. Who better to be playing than Dublin? We're delighted to be getting another crack at them."

Ennis wasn't involved at the start of this season as she ruptured her cruciate knee ligament last year and had gone traveling.

But the Na Fianna player was back in at the start of February to give it another lash with Shane McCormack's side, having heard "training was very good" and "standards were really high."
