Applications in March plunge from 1,821 to 847

- BY LOUISE BURNE Political Correspondent

THE number of asylum applications received in the first three months of the year has dropped by 41%.

New figures released by the International Protection Office showed that 847 applications for International Protection were received in March.

This is down from 1,821 applications in March 2024.

The number of applications has been decreasing in recent months following a sharp rise in the number of people seeking asylum.

This does not include Ukrainian refugees fleeing Russia's war.
