Appeal made to youths as riot footage is released

GARDAI have released dramatic bodycam footage from the riots at Citywest amid an appeal to young men to say: "This is not fun and games.

Gardai released the footage, taken from an officer's body cam, in an effort to show the chaos of the scenes that unfolded in the aftermath of an alleged sexual assault at the grounds of the Citywest Hotel earlier this week.

The footage shows gardai rushing to the crowd, some of whom are seen hurling bottles at them. An officer can be heard over the radio mentioning the water cannon that was being brought to the scene.
