All to play for at theatre fest

DUBLIN Theatre Festival was established in 1957 and over the years has premiered work by Ireland's greats and staged productions by some of the world's most celebrated artists and companies.

The 2025 edition will run from September 25 to October 12. But some shows are opening earlier, such as a groundbreaking work at the Abbey Theatre which kicks off next Monday, September 15.

Written by Marina Carr and directed by Caitriona McLaughlin, The Boy: A Two-Play Theatrical Event brings a contemporary Irish lens to the pain and beauty of Sophocles’ Theban trilogy of Oedipus Rex, Oedipus at Colonus and Antigone.
