Adolescence star Owen, 15, is youngest male winner; Back to school after mixing with acting elite

IT'S every teenager's dream to meet their Hollywood idols but for Owen Cooper it was just another night in the young actor's stellar rise.

The Adolescence star, 15, was plucked from drama-class obscurity for the Netflix drama and scooped Best Supporting Actor for his breathtaking performance as child-killer Jamie Miller.

He became the youngest male actor to win an Emmy for his performance, beating the previous record held by Scott Jacoby, who won an Emmy for That Certain Summer in 1973 aged 16.

But despite mingling with some of Los Angeles’ biggest names, he vowed to be back at his high school tomorrow as he continues studying for his GCSEs.

The four-part drama also won best limited series, as well as prizes for its directing and writing, and acting prizes for Cooper's costars Stephen Graham - who played his dad Eddie Miller - and Erin Doherty, who played child psychologist Briony Ariston.
