Emotional tributes paid to teen killed in hit-and-run

THE death notice of a “wonderful, smart and kind" teenager who sadly lost her life following a hit-and-run over the weekend has been published.

Mia Lily Keogh O'Keeffe tragically died after she was struck by a car on the Slane Road in Navan, Co Meath, on Saturday night.

The 16-year-old, who was from Navan, was walking her dog Bowie and was at a pedestrian crossing when the collision occurred. The driver failed to remain at the scene. Her beloved dog was also killed in the collision.

Mia was treated at the scene before being transferred to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where she was later pronounced deceased.

Mia was one of seven people to lose their life on Irish roads over the weekend.
