What a day for Kabia as Mariners reel in another big fish

- BY ROSS HEPPENSTALL

IT WAS not as dramatic as beating Manchester United on penalties - but Grimsby's remarkable Carabao Cup run continues after dumping out Sheffield Wednesday.

Dave Artell’s League Two outfit enjoyed one of the greatest nights in the club's history last month after severely humiliating Ruben Amorim’s men at Blundell Park.

Last night at Hillsborough, the romance of the cup remained alive and well as Championship crisis club Wednesday were embarrassed after the Mariners reached the fourth round for the first time in 24 years.

Jaze Kabia headed home a corner from Reece Staunton in the 49th minute in front of the 6,000-strong travelling contingent and from there Wednesday simply had no answer.

Credit to Grimsby. They took the game to Wednesday from the outset and ran out worthy victors.
