Postmortem to be carried out. Doc in Satchwell case used

- PAUL HEALY

Truth must wait

THE suspected remains of missing child Daniel Aruebose are expected to be removed today from land where he is believed to have been secretly buried.

Gardai will now await a full postmortem on the partial skeletal remains and clothing before taking any further steps as they work to establish if the child was murdered, died by accident, or of natural causes.

The remains were first discovered during the course of a spot check on land off the Portrane Road in Donabate, north Co Dublin, on Wednesday.

Late yesterday afternoon, State Pathologist Dr Heidi Okkers attended the scene to examine the remains.

It comes as gardai sought the help of renowned Forensic Archaeologist Dr Niamh McCullagh to dig up the body which was discovered near woodland in a field that had been identified to officers by the his mother.

The Consultant Forensic Archaeologist was central to the Tina Satchwell murder investigation and helped dig up her remains from her secret burial place under the stairs of her home in Youghal, Co Cork in 2023.

Dr McCullagh, who has a PhD in the study of clandestine burials where a person may have been murdered, was given a USB which contained the entire Garda probe to date in 2022.
