The world has lost a giant

He was behind one of Julia Roberts' most iconic red carpet looks, dressed Richard Gere in American Gigolo and became a byword for Italian fashion and style.
Now Giorgio Armani, who has died at the age of 91, will be remembered as one of the most influential designers of the late 20th century.
In an emotional statement yesterday, the designer's company said: "With infinite sorrow, the Armani Group announces the passing of its creator, founder, and tireless driving force: Giorgio Armani.
"We have always felt like part of a family. Today, with deep emotion, we feel the void left by the one who founded and nurtured this family with vision, passion, and dedication."
Armani had been unwell for some time, and had to drop out of his group's shows at Milan Men's Fashion Week in June - the first time in his career that he had missed one of his catwalk events.
Hollywood star Roberts, who made headlines when she wore Armani menswear to the Golden Globes in 1990, shared a photo of herself with the designer on Instagram in tribute.
She wrote: "A true friend. A Legend," adding the heartbreak emoji.
Designer Donatella Versace shared a snap of Armani with the caption: "The world lost a giant today. He made history and will be remembered forever."
