'TELL YOUR CLUB TO SKORT IT OUT'

CAMOGIE players have been urged to speak to their clubs and continue to apply pressure so that a vote on skorts can pass later this month.

The Camogie Association is calling the Special Congress on May 22 to “consider motion(s) to provide all players with the choice to wear skorts or shorts while playing camogie”.

It follows controversy that saw the Kilkenny and Dublin match last week nearly called off as players initially refused to change from shorts to skorts.

Senator Evanne Ni Chuilinn, Fine Gael’s sports spokesperson and a former RTE journalist, stated the move was “welcome” and “appropriate” but urged players to keep the pressure up.
