Taxing time for workers

No change to bands & credit as wages rise

MANY workers are facing an underwhelming budget with no change to personal tax bands and credits at a time when wages are rising.

Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe and Public Expenditure Minister Jack Chambers will announce Budget 2026 today.

It’s the first budget of the newly formed Government, and the public have been warned for months there will be no one-off cost of living payments - like we saw in last year's bumper budget.

It’s also the first time in four years workers will not see an increase in personal tax bands in the budget which was worth more than €1,000 to some previously.

For a single person, the cutoff will remain at €44,000 before the rest of their income is taxed at 40%.
