Reds take healthy lead to Belfast

- BY PAUL O'HEHIR

SHELS ROCK..

SHELBOURNE boss Joey O'Brien has told his players they have won nothing yet - despite stealing a march on Linfield.

Harry Wood, Mipo Odubeko and Evan Caffrey scored in a pulsating 3-1 European win over the Blues at Tolka Park, ahead of next Thursday's second leg at Windsor Park.

Both clubs are trying to reach the league phase of a European competition for the first time, and pocket a minimum €3.8million.

Caffrey's strike 13 minutes from time was precious but Shels left goals behind them against the Belfast side who were reduced to 10 after only 18 minutes. O’Brien said:

“When you feel safe, you're unsafe and that was probably what happened to us on the pitch at 2-0.
