Kelly keen to repeat grandfather's Cup joy
FOOTBALL is very much a family affair for Bohemians' FAI Cup final star Rachael Kelly. Her grandfather Jackie Kelly won the men's FAI Cup in 1960 with Shelbourne against Cork Hibernians, her dad was a keen “local” player, and her brother Mark, according to Rachael, used her for target practice in the back garden!
She couldn't even escape the beautiful game when it came to schooltime, as one of the past pupils at St Francis’ Primary School in Coolock was former Bohs striker Paddy Madden.
Kelly would play football with the boys in the yard at break time and she was one of the only girls on the school team.
