Ruben will not change, United might have to

THE clock should be ticking on Ruben Amorim - and United fans have every right to be worried about whether he can turn things around.

Confession time - I thought United would have a brilliant season, upset the odds and maybe even get back into the Champions League places.

They have done brilliant business and backed their manager to the hilt.

Of course they are still lacking in midfield and messing around signing backup keepers when they needed a proper No.1 is beyond a joke. Altay Bayindir is nowhere near good enough.

But that is part of Amorim’s problem.

He has become stubborn and his blind loyalty towards his keepers and his ridiculous formation and tactics is the reason why the alarm bells should be ringing.

There is still time for Amorim. But he must change soon. Or that system and his own stubbornness - together with some bad recruitment - will cost him his job and his career.

DAN MARSH

I'VE advocated previously for United sticking with Amorim and it's clear their issues go beyond their head coach.

Yes, he was dealt a tough hand. But he's shown little to suggest that he is the right man - and he is absolutely killing himself with his refusal to adapt.
