WHEN Mason Mount joined Manchester United in the summer of 2023 he could not stop smiling.
He sat on a stool in a room at the club's training ground to pose for a picture with his back to the photographer.
On his shirt was the No.7. The most iconic number in United's long and storied history.
One which used to belong to George Best, Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo.
One which inspired greatness from this quartet - but proved nothing more than a burden to Mount.
At the time of joining from Chelsea in a £60million deal, Mount could never have imagined the nightmare ahead of him.
