The Brit fell to a 7-6 6-4 defeat on Centre Court last night but not without one heck of a fight.

On paper, a meeting between the British No.1 and world No.1 never looked like it was going to end well for Raducanu.

After all, both of her Grand Slam appearances this season had ended in brutal fashion. She won just one game at the Australian Open and only three at the French Open.

But under the roof last night Raducanu at times threatened to turn the lights out on the tournament favourite before coming up just short in the crucial moments.
