Murder suspect 'beaten by prison officers'

Gori in serious condition as probe is launched

A SUSPECT in the murder of pensioner Josephine Ray is in a serious condition in hospital - after an alleged beating by prison officers.

This paper can reveal the Irish Prison Service has referred a shocking incident to gardai after Hasan Ali Gori, who has twice been arrested over the murder of the beloved Nenagh pensioner’s murder, was rushed to ICU with serious injuries from Portlaoise Prison last week.

Sources say Gori, 51, who we can also reveal was only jailed earlier this month for assaulting two gardai, turned up at Portlaoise Prison in a serious condition last Friday. He had been transferred from Limerick Prison, where he was accused of biting a number of prison officers.
