Killarney is 'just so proud' of local performer's glory

A KERRY town is brimming with pride following local woman Jessie Buckley's Golden Globe win for her role in Hamnet.

The President and Taoiseach have led the messages of congratulations for the Killarney native's accolade for her performance.

President Catherine Connolly expressed her best wishes in a statement, while also expressing her best wishes to those who have supported her.

She said: "Congratulations to Jessie Buckley on her wonderful achievement in winning a Golden Globe at this year's ceremony in Los Angeles.

"This award is a fantastic recognition of Jessie Buckley's outstanding work, and of the continued exceptional success of the whole Irish film industry."
