OFF the mark for the new flat season with Glen To Glen at the Curragh on Sunday, Jim Bolger might strike again with Eastern Legend in today's Navan opener, the Mongey Communications Maiden Hurdle.
A son of Teofilo, Eastern Legend progressed on the flat in 2023, scoring three times off an initial winning mark of 93, and reached a mark of 97 in that sphere.
One of his victories came in Listowel, when beating Pinot Gris, now a two-time winner over obstacles, who finished eighth in the recent County Hurdle at Cheltenham, off a British mark of 143.
Admittedly, Eastern Legend has failed in seven attempts over flights but has posted a number of creditable efforts, including a third to Romeo Coolio in a Grade 1 novice at Leopardstown over Christmas.
