Despite missing first-half penalty, Haaland hits a hat-trick to keep 10-game hot streak going strong

- BY KEITH WEBSTER

AT some point before the final day of the season on May 24, Erling Haaland will pass 100 Premier League goals for Manchester City.

In his fourth season, at the rate at which he is going, he may well do it before Christmas, as he needs only six more to reach his century.

But just when you think the 25-year-old Norwegian has done everything he could possibly have dreamed of when he arrived at City in June 2022, he made his mark in another way in Oslo as Norway edged one step closer to their first World Cup finals appearance since France 1998.

Just like Scotland, six consecutive, frustrating qualifying campaigns this century have left Norway supporters watching from afar every four years as other teams battle it out for the biggest prize of all.

Already 1-0 up at the weekend against Israel thanks to an Anan Khalaili own goal, Haaland teased Or Blorian on the right side of the box, switched the ball from his left foot to his right and fired home across keeper Daniel Peretz.
