Edwards will need survival miracle after Bridge collapse

- BY ALEX RICHARDS

IF incoming Wolves boss Rob Edwards was uncertain on the size of the task that awaits him at Molineux, then the second half capitulation at Stamford Bridge will have offered confirmation.

There was no shortage of effort from the Premier League's bottom side during this defeat in west London, but while club captain Toti Gomes insists Wolves will not be throwing in the towel, they completely lack threat at one end and always look on the verge of conceding at the other.

Wolves' resistance was broken just six minutes into the second period, thanks to Malo Gustos first senior goal.

Joao Pedro doubled the lead shortly after the hour mark - teed up by the Brazilian wonderkid Estevao during another delightful cameo - before former Wolves star Pedro Neto rubbed salt into the wounds with Chelsea's third.

“Another tough defeat” summarised Toti. “Of course after the first half we expected to try and do more. But after the first goal it was tough. We know they have many players, many resources.
