Davina's hug of hope for brain tumour girl

DAVINA McCall beams as she puts her arm around an 11-year-old girl who is battling a brain tumour, just months after having treatment on one herself.

The Masked Singer panellist, 57, announced she had been through surgery to remove a benign cyst on November 15 last year.

That same day, young Kirsty Waugh was diagnosed with a similar tumour of her own.

Noting the coincidence, her parents Mat and Kate decided to see if they could get in contact with Davina, who lives locally, to ask her to send a message for their daughter.

But the presenter went one better, not only making her a video of encouragement but also organising to drop by her home last Friday.

Mat, 53, said Davina chatted with the whole family, including Kirsty's older sisters Isla and Doris, for more than an hour.

He added: “She is as lovely and warm and generous as you would hope. They talked a lot about their respective cancer treatment.

"It was a really uplifting experience. We all felt better for having spoken to her.
