Contract not renewed after inspections

AN INTERNATIONAL Protection Centre located next to Croke Park has been shut down by the Department of Justice.

The Department's Community Engagement Team said it has decided "not to renew the contract at Croke Park Stadium, Century House, North Richmond Street Industrial Estate, Richmond Street North, Dublin 1, D01CC63".

In a statement the Department made the decision following "inspections and appraisals".

Up to 96 residents at the centre were informed of the decision on March 10 and transfer letters were issued to them on the same day.

There were no children resident at the centre. All residents who wanted to continue to receive State-funded accommodation were relocated last Thursday.
