CAB tackle ex-footballer over vehicles and watch

23 items deemed 'proceeds of crime'

THE Criminal Assets Bureau secured a High Court order to take control of 23 items deemed to be the proceeds of crime following a hearing involving a former footballer.

The order, made following the uncontested hearing involving Jamie Geoghegan, 29, allows the CAB to seize and manage the assets which include vehicles and a watch - on behalf of the State.

Geoghegan, a former footballer who represented Ireland at underage level, is currently serving a six-and-a-half-year prison sentence for his role in the false imprisonment and violent assault of another man who was hooded, beaten, and stabbed.
