Burglar lucky to survive shooting

Convicted crim wounded in arm but managed to flee scene believed to be behind the attack

A CONVICTED burglar is lucky to be alive after being shot in a terrifying incident in west Dublin.

The criminal, 41, who is well known to gardai, received a suspected gunshot wound to the arm outside a Chinese takeaway in Corduff, near Blanchardstown, yesterday afternoon.

Sources say young thugs believed to be connected to murder victim Jason Hennessy Sr targeted the criminal and his associate - who was recently caught up in a bloody brawl that started on a Dublin bus and spilled out onto the street.

It is understood the shot man managed to flee, despite being injured, into a house connected to him in the area.
