Ex-Mayo boss favourite as Ros search continues

- BY MICHAEL SCULLY

ROSCOMMON'S managerial vacancy is set to be filled in the coming days as the race to succeed Davy Burke hots up.

A number of high-profile coaching figures have been linked to the role, including former Mayo boss Stephen Rochford and ex-Donegal ace Mark McHugh, who is also rumoured to be following Dermot McCabe from Westmeath to his new post as Cavan boss.

Former Rossies marksman Frankie Dolan is another who has been linked to the post, as well as the county's former under-21 manager Nigel Dineen, who made a bid for the position in the past.

County board officials are keen to get a new manager in situ before the group games finish in the Roscommon club championship.

Burke (right), who hails from Kildare, stepped down at the end of June at the end of his three-year term. He succeeded Anthony Cunningham as Rossies boss in late 2022.
