MIKEL ARTETA is on a “mission” to deliver Arsenal's first major trophy in almost six years.

- BY TOM CANTON

The Gunners are still fighting on four fronts this season and Arteta claims Carabao Cup glory can be the springboard for a first Premier League title since 2004.

Arsenal head across London to take on Chelsea, and the Spaniard is eager to banish the memory of a painful 4-0 aggregate defeat to Newcastle at the same stage last season.

He said: “Football will give you another chance.

“We've been really consistent again in the competition and now we have to knock another big team out to be in the final.

“That's the mission.

Hopefully we'll learn from last year because it was painful, especially the manner in which the games went and the amount of chances we missed not to go through.

“But hopefully this year we are better and especially more efficient.”
