VIKTOR GYOKERES has been backed by Mikel Arteta to shine in the second half of the season after the Arsenal boss admitted the Swede had endured a “difficult” start at his new club.

The struggle has been attributed to the timing of Gyokeres’ arrival, the lack of preseason, and, most recently, the injury he suffered at Burnley that interrupted his stride.

Asked for an assessment of the striker’s time so far at the club, Arteta believes he has seen plenty of evidence his £64million marquee signing will soon come good.

“The level of attention on him hasn't changed since he signed to today. It's normal,” Arteta explained.
