Oversized suit jackets loved by celebs hit the high street

- BY LARISSA NOLAN

A POWER OF GOOD

SHARP shoulders, suit jacket and statement accessories mean one thing -power dressing is back.

The recent catwalks were full of the key look of the 1980s, from the classic tweed skirt suits of Chanel to the oversized men's style suit jackets of Armani and Schiaparelli.

Now the style is all over collections from Dunnes Stores to Brown Thomas, with Victoria Beckham leading the way with her slick, tailored suits, priced for those with celebrity budgets.

Rita Ora's new collection for Penneys is more affordable and has a new twist on the work suit, with a padded and cropped waistcoat (€20) and Bermuda shorts (€18). However, this time around, it's not so much the bold, brash look seen in the likes of 1980s soaps like Dallas and Dynasty, featuring Joan Collins as Alexis Colby.
