€3k to nut allergy girl refused creche care

A CRECHE has been ordered to pay €3,000 after refusing to continue caring for a toddler diagnosed with a nut allergy.
The Workplace Relations Commission found the creche discriminated against the child under the Equal Status Act.
The girl had been attending since August 2022 but was diagnosed with a nut allergy in February 2024 and was required to have two EpiPens at all times.
Her parents said that when they returned to the creche, the owners told them EpiPens would not be permitted and their child would have to leave.
