Anything we want.” The words of Will Pryce when asked what this Hull FC team can achieve this year.

Why 'freedom-loving' Pryce is enjoying life at the Black and Whites

Hull sit fourth in Super League after eight rounds, with a stellar start under John Cartwright - one that has defied pre-season expectations - paving the way for an optimistic take on the future.

That optimism is led by Pryce, who put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half-year deal earlier this month and is now ready to put every ounce of energy and enthusiasm into FC and build on a promising run of form.

Twice thrown into the derby cauldron, Pryce also starred in a win at Warrington and has no doubt this Hull side can now kick on.

It doesn’t get any easier, with Wigan up next tomorrow, but it’s a challenge Pryce is up for.

The 22-year-old said: "We got knocked out of the Challenge Cup and as a team, it hurt us. We reviewed the game, and we were all devastated.

"Sometimes you can play big games like that, lose, and you're like, 'At least we got that far,' but we're striving to be better, and we want to win. That's massive for us, and we know we can win big games, but it’s just about not getting too far ahead of ourselves.

"We've only played eight rounds; the trophies aren’t won in May; it’s about being ready to play the same brand of rugby and stick in it until the very end of the year."

That brand of rugby instructed by Cartwright is what excites Pryce the most. Playing the last two games at full-back, it’s the variation of running that brings with it the player's exuberance, with one word rubber-stamped to the Bradford-born talent: enjoyment.
