FORMER Liverpool winger Albert Riera has emerged as one of the bookmakers' favourites to take over at Hull City after flying into the betting market.

Riera now bookies' favourite for Tigers

Riera, who is in charge of the Slovenian club Celje and is known to be good friends with owner Acun Ilicali, has jumped into the betting at the top of the list with a best price of 4/6.

The ex-Mallorca youngster is understood to have been spoken to by City after casting their net far and wide, but it's understood he is not the candidate Ilicali referenced in his interview with the Mail earlier this week.

Sources have indicated that the 43-year-old ex-left winger has not been interviewed by the club, but that has not stopped a surge of money being placed on the Spaniard amid reports claiming he's in the frame.

Elsewhere, much of the market remains unchanged, with Plymouth Argyle head coach Miron Muslic second at 6/4 and Emre Belozogulu an outsider at 8/1, with Michael Beale further back at 12/1. Steve Cooper has gone from 33/1 to 4/1 but that is also considered highly unlikely.
