Field of dreams

- By JOSH MCALISTER

SKY Sports pundit Jon Wilkin has backed Wigan Warriors fullback Jai Field to be crowned this year's Man of Steel winner, after he was nominated alongside Leeds' Jake Connor and reigning winner Mikey Lewis.

Hull KR superstar Lewis, 24, could become just the fourth player to win the prestigious individual accolade more than once since it was introduced in 1977 - and only the second to retain it, following in the footsteps of legend Paul Sculthorpe.

Connor has produced one of his best seasons at Headingley Stadium under head coach Brad Arthur, playing a key role as Leeds secured their first home playoff since 2017.
