No festive cheer as injury-hit Beverley go down to defeat at Old Rishworthian

BEVERLEY went down 22-8 to Old Rishworthian - never looking like matching their hosts’ urgency to win.

The seriousness of Beverley's absence of senior injured players is now becoming all too apparent.

Risworthian took the lead inside five minutes with a converted try by their left winger who gathered a long diagonal crossfield kick and easily shrugged off a couple of halfhearted tackles to touch down.

Rob Smith almost got Beverley going with a penalty attempt from 35 metres but the ball drifted wide.

Rishworthian increased their lead with another try on their left following a penalty lineout on the Beverley 22 and a quick movement of the ball across the backline.
