NHS staff fined hundreds for using visitor car parks

A NUMBER of staff at Castle Hill Hospital have complained that parking is a “nightmare” and have ended up being fined hundreds of pounds for using visitor car parks due to the staff areas being full.

One affected person told Hull Live they had paid nearly £300 in fines for two outstanding penalty notices from parking company APCOA. He said the fines and use of debt collectors had caused severe stress.

He added: "I've rang helplines and just pressed a number to get through to a human and I just get turned away. I've sent emails that have not been responded to."

The fines were issued due to parking in Car Park Six, which is signposted “Patient and Visitor Car Park”. He said parking at the hospital is a “nightmare” and there are “very limited spaces for the number of staff that work there”. This meant by 8am there were usually “no parking spaces left.
