New guidelines to help preserve area's character

NEW planning guidelines that shape how future developments should take place in Garden Village have been introduced.

The updates, which seek to protect the area's charm, were due to come into force from the start of August, Hull City Council has confirmed.

The refreshed guidelines add new restrictions on what residents in the area are able to do without obtaining planning permission. This includes a requirement for homeowners in the leafy area east of the city centre to have planning permission to create new accesses and parking places in front gardens and current parking areas.
