More intense games are needed to help England, says Wane

England head coach Shaun Wane has stressed the importance of Super League finding 'more intense games' in order to aid the national side.

Wane used State of Origin as an example, with Australia benefiting collectively from the annual three-game series. But the head coach also wants to see Super League games rival the intensity of the NRL, which is renowned as a more intense, faster, and better-quality competition.
Insisting he is still the right man to lead England into the future and next year’s World Cup after a 3-0 Ashes whitewash, Wane’s plea to the English game is simple - at least in theory - with more intense games and more time with his players desired.
Wane’s side went into the Ashes series without any mid-season Tests or sincere training camps - something that reflected an at times clunky attack with cohesion lacking.
And the head coach believes that if he gets that time with his squad to better prepare, then he can bridge the gap between England and Australia.
