Local trio bringing a taste of American harmonies to Hull

NAMED after a US road junction in Nashville Tennessee, 3rd and Church are a local multi-instrumental trio performing acoustic covers of Americana music.

Formed in 2019, the band are inspired by the music of The Eagles, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams and Johnny Cash. Playing a mixture of acoustic instruments including guitars, banjo, mandolin and ukulele the music is complemented by three-part vocal harmonies.

3rd and Church also cover a wide range of Americana Music and consist of acoustic guitarist, Mandolin and vocalist Ian Thorpe.

At the age of 14 a family friend showed Ian a few chords on a guitar. He instantly developed a passion for playing.

Ian took a break from playing for an 18-year period due to his work commitments as a touring sound engineer but in 2000 following a one-off show, a further 12 years performing followed!
