Lampard on growing interest in Tigers' defender Hughes

FRANK Lampard admits he can understand why there is growing interest in Hull City's Charlie Hughes after watching the centre-back deliver a commanding performance.

Lampard’s Sky Blues are one of the clubs keen on signing Hughes, and have seen £4m and £7m bids rebuffed by the Tigers, who do not want to sell their star man.

Hughes, along with central defensive partner Semi Ajayi, kept Coventry at arm's length throughout a stalemate in the Midlands to give Sergej Jakirovic a point in his first Championship outing.

“Yeah, he's a good player, a good player and he played very well,” Lampard told the Mail when asked about the interest in the 21-year-old.
