COUNCIL ISSUES UPDATE ON THE REOPENING OF EAST PARK GATES

HULL City Council has issued an update on the expected reopening of the East Park gates. In May the council announced a series of works that would see the reopening completed by 'mid-July'.

The gates were temporarily opened this weekend prompting questions whether this was a sign of things to come or simply a one off.

The council has now explained this weekend opening and given an update into when the gates will be permanently reopened.

The gates, which allowed people to drive into the park, were closed in 2020 in an effort to promote adherence to social distancing rules. Ever since the closure, there has been strong views on either side of the debate for reopening the gates to the public.
