LEYLAND RECALLS REHAB AND TAKING HIS ROBINS' CHANCE
-
There was a point when Bill Leyland feared his Super League chance might never come - and it might not even be worth it all if it did.
But the Hull KR hooker certainly isn’t thinking that now as he prepares for Magic Weekend with the competition leaders.
Maidstone-born Leyland was rated one of the brightest talents outside the top-flight when making his way through London Broncos’ ranks. He won Championship Young Player of the Year when helping them earn promotion in 2023.
But he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in a pre-season game against Castleford last year and missed London’s entire campaign with the big boys. Still, the Robins had already seen enough of his talent and announced last July they would bring Leyland to Craven Park for 2025 on a two-year deal.
He made his Super League bow while on loan at Huddersfield last month - although that only lasted a matter of minutes as he suffered a head injury and failed a HIA.
But Leyland, 22, got his shot for real when coming off the bench in KR's thrilling win at Leeds last week and now he's preparing to face Salford in Newcastle today.
