Bateman survives leg amputation scare after spider bite

ENGLAND star and North Queensland Cowboys back-rower John Bateman has revealed all on a terrifying spider bite that nearly resulted in the loss of his left leg earlier this year.

Speaking to NRL.com, Bateman recounted the ordeal, which began during training ahead of the Cowboys’ Round Six clash with South Sydney Rabbitohs in April.
"I think it [the spider] was on the field, and it bit me on my leg. I wasn't too sure what it was, I've never had to worry about that before," Bateman told NRL.com.
He initially brushed off the bite, but the situation was more serious than he realised.
