THE RFL's compliance department has recommended that Salford Red Devils receive the biggest points deduction in Super League history after proposing an eight-point deduction for the side they fielded in the opening round.

Salford played a weakened side in their round one clash with St Helens, a match that broke a Super League record for the biggest margin of victory as Saints won 82-0. Working under the sustainability cap, Salford opted to leave out a number of first-team players who were available, essentially fielding a reserves team.
As a result, RFL Compliance launched an investigation to determine if Salford had brought the sport into disrepute.
