A sleepy village to be awakened by Folk Festival

LAUNCHED in 2015, Cottingham Folk Festival is a small family run music festival, bringing big name acts to the usually sleepy village of Cottingham.

Previous headliners include Frank Turner, Wilko Johnson, Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel.

The 2025 festival runs from tomorrow night through to Sunday in venues across Cottingham including The Civic Hall, The Back Room and St Mary’s Church.

A host of top names from the world of Folk are appearing over the coming four days and singer-songwriter Sandi Thom is playing the intimate St Mary’s Church on Saturday night.

With a voice that echoes the soulful resonance of Americana and the gritty authenticity of folk-rock, Sandi Thom captivates audiences with her raw talent and emotive storytelling.

Rising to fame with her viral hit ‘I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker (With Flowers in My Hair), Thom quickly became a symbol of DIY success in the digital age.
