Winds help improve Delhi's pollution levels

Winds with speeds of 10-12kmph on Wednesday helped push Delhi's pollution levels to the best they have been since November 12, data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) showed.

The Capital's 24-hour average air quality index (AQI) reading on Wednesday was 286 slightly better than the 290 logged on Tuesday, and the second day in a row that the city's air was in the "poor" category. The last time Delhi experienced a better air was on November 12 - the day of Diwali-after rain the previous day helped flush pollutants from the atmosphere.
Other cities in the National Capital Region (NCR) also had a relatively better air day - Noida logged an AQI of 220, followed by Gurugram (227), Ghaziabad (230), and Greater Noida (232).
